‘we must try to get rid of it’- the use of ‘it’ dehumanizes gregor as he isn’t being referred to as he/she or even by his name but ‘it’.
the use of the word ‘it’ when describing something is usually used when talking about an object or unidentified presence.
‘but how can it be gregor,if it were gregor,he would have long ago realized that a communal life among human beings is not possible with such an animal and would have gone way voluntarily’-in this mini speech gregor sister is suggesting that this creature no longer has the mind of a human.
grete’s language/tone-
her tone when she first starts talking is actually quite sad/upset but then turns very aggressive as if she is trying to persuade but also scare her parents into taking sides with her.
gregor’s appearance and movement-
through out grete’s speech the camera would shortly show gregors face. he didn’t actually have a facial expression because all his emotion lay gently in his eyes. through his eyes i sensed pain, betrayal and almost self hatred as he hangs his head and limps back over to his room. his appearance slightly gave it way that this part of the movie was going to be significant as his once healthy brown thick outer shell was now grey flat and looked almost moldy, there was a complete lack of liveliness in his appearance.
music-
the music is quite soft and quit how ever only adds fire to the tension in the room and adds emphasis to gretes speech and the reaction from gregor.
perspective and camera angles-
the camera man is almost filming to show us the view from gregors perspective.if u watch it u will notice that the mum, sister and dad are often in the she shot however gregor is kept separated except from the last shot where gregor walks back into his room

You have drawn out some interesting features of both the book and the film. I am particularly interested in how you might develop greater comparison’s between the two.
Targets:
1) Use capital letters and full stops accurately.
2) Consider what the features you have identified tell us about the theme of ‘death’.
