just by breathing in you would be able to tell you were in the rich sides of Mumbai, the air was scented with money and hope and wasn’t as thick as the toxic air we lived on in the slums. The side walks weren’t smothered in torn plastic bottles and the roads didn’t swallow your foot if you stepped to heavy unlike back home.
The cars here were nice, they were shiny and actually had 4 wheels and glass in the windows. The cars here made our 3 wheeled trash cans look tiny, these cars were huge and the doors themselves were probably taller than me. I liked it here everyone looked after their appearance and walked around with confidence. i hated the slums, everyone was miserable and had the tendency to complain about everything. the air was scented with poverty, grief and depression.
i had got used to the new traffic system over-here,the green light means go, the red light meant stop and the yellow light is to say slow down. when i went back to the slums i would often try it to the young ones and the would always get excited and compliment my ‘intelligence’.
today i wasn’t here to look through their goldmines(bins) i had decided that today i was going to roam about and appreciate the beautiful-ness rather than its trash.
the police over here were scary, the looked like mini hulks compared to the slums police. they all had light clear skin, white teeth and were all highly muscular.whereas our police were fat, diseased, evil middle aged men.
i walked past the hotels entrance and headed towards the car park where he could admire the cars without being center of attention. i instantly saw a white changeover had spent so much time over i here that i was also learning the name of car brands. next to it were four policemen all drinking coffee, i was aware how they would reacts but i just had to admire its shiny white superior from up close.

is India still a developing country?
before reading these articles i was confident that India was a’developing country’and my thought was confirmed when i read the first article by Jayati ghosh.
He speaks about the lack of development causing mass unemployment,”95% of all workers are in informal employment”.
this usually means that they work with small unregistered enterprises showing proof that the government are not providing a sufficient amount of jobs. Jayati also mentions that their per capita income iremains below $2,000 and that is clearly not enough to live on.
now the second article shocked me as the opening line was “india is developing at a neck breaking pace”
raka then goes on about the many new roads and highways and cars being produced. akhil paul then moves it along and speaks about the health and education in inda. 2.7million people live with disabilities in india but most of the public places are not accomidated for the disabled. it was also brought to my attention that the goverment in india spend less that 4% of their gdp on health and educucation,12% of the children aged from 5-15 suffer are affected by child labor and 2.4 million people live with hiv/aids
